What?!
This is something crazy that could only happen at a diner at 3 o'clock in the morning. My friend and I, while driving home from a show in North Carolina, stopped off at Frank's Truck Stop in Carrborro, North Carolina. While eating our meal, this dude tried to walk out on his bill. Long story short, the guy was caught trying to run out, the owner stopped him, they got into a argument, one thing led to another and the owner stabbed him. Literally stabbed him... Basically if you ever go to Frank's truck stop in Carrborro, North Carolina; don't walk out on your bill.
History Right Around the Corner
In 1907, Abe Doumar's first Ice Cream Cone Stand in Norfolk was in Ocean View Amusement Park. John Doumar ran Doumar's first soda fountain in the historic Wells Theater, downtown Norfolk.

Heeeere's Johnny!
Johnny's Diner located in Norfolk is definitely one of my favorites. I live in Olde Towne Portsmouth so I don't get a lot of opportunities to go out there, but it's definitely worth the drive. From the jukebox to the coffee mugs that look like there from the Civil War era, this place is definitely old school. I believe it's an all female staff as well, at least every time I've been in there, it's always been female cooks and waitresses. Before World War 1, the wait staff and cooks at restaurants were always men; but when all the men went off to war you started to see waitresses and female cooks popping up in diners such as this one. The employees seem to always have a good attitude, even though you couldn't blame if they weren't in the best of moods; they have to deal with drunks all night. When it comes to the menu, it's your typical american diner cuisine, but it definitely passes my test : "Cheap, Hot, and Fast". I know, I know... That's what she said.

Well Thought Out Introduction
My name is Tim Hallissy, I'm 23 years old and attend College at ODU in Norfolk, Virginia. I decided to start a blog about the best places to eat in Virginia after 2 o'clock. I cook for a living and have always had a passion about food, but since I work at a bar I usually end up eating really late. From my experiences of working at bars, when two o'clock hits, everybody's ready to eat and sober up. This feeling usually leads to some of the best food experiences you'll ever have. Something about greasy food at 2 o'clock in the morning just seems to spark conversation. I hope to highlight some of the best places to eat late nite, and explore some of the history behind these and other famous 24 hour diners and restaurants.
